Heidi Nunn (Advanced Practice Reporting Radiographer)

Further Information

Who are Heidi and David Nunn?

Heidi is an Advanced Practice Reporting Radiographer, reporting plain radiograph referrals from A&E, GPs, rheumatology, outpatients and inpatients. She is based at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and the Norwich Radiology Academy, UK, previously at Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK. She is the author of all of the radiological information on this website.

David is a Consultant Anaesthetist, also at the Norfolk & Norwich, who has an interest in computer programming and website creation. This website was designed by David, who runs Medical Web Systems as a sole trader. Other projects have included the website for the Vascular Anaesthesia Society of Great Britain and Ireland, and for some non-medical sites including a Norwich-based chamber choir that he belongs to, Viva Voce Singers. He has also created numerous other programs, including a multi award-winning program for booking patients onto emergency theatre lists.

How widely used is this website?
CPD for medical doctors
The Royal College of Radiologists has confirmed that as the MSK online course has been endorsed by the College of Radiographers, additional accreditation from the RCR is not required:
"1.5 Reciprocity: Because of the wide range and variety of medical practice it is recognised that doctors working in one specialty may find it helpful to undertake CPD activities that are more usually appropriate for a different specialty. To facilitate this, a CPD activity approved by one College or Faculty may be accepted as part of the CPD for a doctor from a different College or Faculty without the need for a second accreditation process."
CPD credits
Guidance for allocating CPD credits is provided by the Royal College of Radiologists' document Continuing professional development (CPD) scheme (Third edition). In this, it states that "Distance learning from accredited online courses, events, meetings, lectures and educational activities" should be allocated at one credit per hour. One additional credit for reflection, and a further credit for documenting impact of the activity on clinical care can also be claimed.
